Stories of Honor: Tom Harris, Air Force

National Veterans and Military Families Month concluded in November. Still, we at PSA continue to pay homage all year long to the unrelenting bravery and dedication of all who wear the uniform and to the unwavering love and support of all who serve alongside them.

As a salute to our military veterans and their families at PSA, we shared Stories of Honor throughout the month. In our final thanks, we honor Tom Harris, an Engine Shop mechanic based in Dayton, who served in the Air Force, where his love of flying came to life. We also recognize Lori Sorrell, LMS Administrator, whose father served in the Navy and the Korean War.

Tom Harris:

“I joined the Air Force on July 2, 1980. After basic training and technical school, my first assignment was to RAF Lakenheath in England as crew chief on the F111F. Then in 1983, I went to Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY, to be crew chief on the F106. Then in 1987, assignment took me to the B-1 program at Dyess AFB, Texas. Finally, 1995 took me back to England, RAF Mildenhall, to be a flight line expeditor on the KC-135. My retirement assignment was to the B2 as production superintendent at Whiteman AFB, MO.

My most memorable moments were the KC135 nighttime refueling mission with C5. I got two incentive flights which involved a max climb, barrel rolls, flying upside down, dog fighting, and operating the controls.”

Thank you to our Military team members and your families for your service to our nation.
