US Airways’ Above & Beyond program and American Airlines’ Applause program have joined together to form one rewards program that allows both frequent flyers and employee leaders to identify customer-facing employees that have done an exceptional job caring for our customers.
2013’s PSA employee nominations for the A&B awards, as well as general customer compliments, show growth from already-impressive 2012 numbers. Other various categories help us internally recognize great targets met by our crew each year such as Flight Attendant perfect attendance (Tracy Krueger, Patrick O’Conner, Lisa Ridgeway, Liz Sagraves, Jason Spann, Ken Todd, Sonia Turner, and Sandra Wilson), Flight Attendant of the Year Award (Kim Williams) awarded by fellow flight attendants, and flight attendants recognized by the Safety department for providing outstanding safety service (Becky Black, Roger Dunn, Diane Lyons, Adam Jones, Lisa Ponce-Mieles, and Michelle Spangler).

After the December 12th announcement by American Airlines Group, Inc., PSA Airlines is ramping up hiring in order to fill large training classes of first officers, captain upgrades, and flight attendants to prepare for the delivery of 30 Bombardier CRJ 900 NextGen aircraft.
2014 will be a year of accelerated hiring in order to fill the need for these crewmembers, maintenance technicians, and other aviation professionals. January 2014 has already seen pilot classes of 24 every two weeks and similarly large flight attendant classes every 2 weeks.
Anticipated quick upgrade times are coming to fruition as current PSA first officers are being pulled from the line for captain upgrade classes every couple of weeks. Along with a quicker upgrade to captain, a rapid path to line holder is in store for pilots coming aboard at PSA during this time of growth. PSA pilots are making the jump to mainline at a current rate of 4 pilots a month.
This rate of hiring will continue throughout 2014 and 2015- as the CRJ NextGens come into service. Four hundred additional pilots will be required in order to account for the additional aircraft as well as vacancies from upgrades. Pilot recruitment is aided, not only by the obvious career growth opportunity, but benefits such as paid training and low reservation time.

For PSA, this year has been full of great celebrations, pride in community involvement, commemorating lost loved ones, and above all, hard work. This year could not have been as remarkable without the dedication we see everyday from all of our employees.
If 2013 was one for the books, 2014 is sure to be a show stealer for PSA. With the announcement of the new American’s large jet order, our year will be focused on the preparation and inclusion of the additional CRJ 900 NextGen aircraft to our fleet. The first deliveries will occur at the end of 2014’s second quarter at an initial rate of two aircraft per month. Part of this preparation will include the recruitment of nearly 1000 additional employees to PSA. Hiring will focus heavily on pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance technicians, along with internal advancement.
